Gregory (Grigoriy)
Braylovsky, 19, lives in East Brunswick, N.J. Gregory attends Pace University,
and he is a frequent visitor to the Marshall Chess Club. Gregory's interests
include the Internet, soccer, and books.
Dean Ippolito: Invitational Rating 2478:
Dean Ippolito, 19, is from Boonton Township, N.J. Dean's numerour scholastic
chess accomplishments include first place finishes at the 1994 U.S. Cadet
Championship, 1994 Denker Tournament of High School Champions, and 1996
National High School Championship. He is a 10-time member of the Pressman
All-American Team. Dean was recently awarded the prestigious Samford
Chess Scholarship, by Chess-in-the Schools in New York City.
He is pursuing a career as a professional chessplayer.
Shearwood McClelland III; Invitational Rating 2261:
Shearwood (Woody) McClelland III, 20, lives in Teaneck, N.J. Woody is the
1997 U.S. Junior Open champion. He has won numerous scholastic titles,
including 1990 New Jersey Elementary Champion, 1993 National Junior
High Co-Champion, 1994 National 11th Grade Champion, and 1995 National
12th Grade Champion. In 1996, Woody received the National Scholar-Chessplayer
Award. He attend Harvard University.
Michael A. Mulyar; Invitational Rating 2463:
Michael A. Mulyar, 19, is from Westminster, Colo., and attends Yale
University in New Haven Conn. Michael is a three-time Colorodo State
Champion (1992, 1993, 1995), and he has represented the U.S. in international
competition.
Eugene Perelshteyn; Invitational Rating 2468:
Eugene Perelshteyn, 18, is from Lynn, Mass. Eugene has represented the U.S.
several times in international competition, including the 1996 & 1997 FIDE
World U16/U18 Championships. He is also the 1996 Massachusetts champion
and the 1997 New England champion. Eugene's interests include computers,
soccer, and reading.
Gregory Shahade; Invitational Rating 2398.50:
Gregory Shahade, 19, lives in Philadelphia, Pa. Greg is the 1996 U.S. Open
Junior champion, and he also tied for first place in the 1996 National
High School Championship. His interests include basketball and psychology.
Greg attends Drexel University.
IM Igor Shliperman; Invitational Rating 2523.50:
IM Igor Shliperman, 18 is from Rego Park, NY. He is the only player in
this year's event to hold the title of International Master. He has
represented the U.S. in many international competitions, including the
FIDE World U16/U18 Championships. Igor's interests include hockey,
football, soccer, and fiction.
John Viloria: Invitational Rating 2350:
John Viloria, 20, is from Yonkers, N.Y. John attends the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, and he is an active member of the MIT Chess
Club. He has had multiple medal finishes at the FIDE World Youth
Champioships (Under 10L first place in 1987 & 1988; Under 12: second
place in 1989 & 1990). John's interests include computer programming,
all types of sports, and video games.
Dmitry Zilberstein; Invitational Rating 2408:
Dmitry Zilberstein, 19, lives in Fremont, Calif. Dmitry is a three-time
Northern California champion (1994, 1996, 1997). He has finished well in the
Denker Tournament of High School Champions (1994 - tied for first place;
1997 - third place), and in other USCF national events. Dmitry's interests
include hockey, soccer, tennis, and swimming.
